After sitting down with some of the creators of the upcoming film Freddy vs. Jason, it was time to pick the brain of the actual movie monsters themselves. Ken Kirzinger and Robert Englund sat down with TNMC to discuss all things slasher and what they hope this film accomplishes.

Recently, at the San Diego Comic-Con, I had a chance to sit down with some of the cast, the writer, and the producer of the upcoming slasher-fest Freddy vs. Jason. Two of the most legendary icons in horror, both Freddy and Jason have cut a swath through both the box office and far too attractive teenagers in their respective careers. And now, for the first time, in what has to rightly be considered a historic meeting, the two icons will be going claws to machete in open combat. This is akin to when Dracula first met the Wolfman or when Godzilla threw down against King Kong. And being a bit of horror fanatic, it was an extra special treat to sit down with everybody involved with this project.

Tim: The last day of the San Diego Comicon was upon us, and though a slight hangover loomed in the distance, there was one more day of investigative journalism looming ahead of myself. Unfortunately I would be flying solo today, as my esteemed colleague needed the day off. Since Sunday was a much smaller and more manageable day though, this was no problem.

Raf: It was a good thing I allotted a couple of hours on Friday for mingling and meandering around the exhibition floor, because once I looked at Saturday's schedule, I knew it was going to be jam-packed. And I don't just mean the panels, discussions, etc. - the entire convention center was literally jam-packed with hordes of fans. Saturday was definitely the big day of the Con.

Poised, radiant, elegant, glowing... These are not words most people in this scandal-crazed industry usually associate with Angelina Jolie. Even though quite open about her "lost, punk-kid past," she completely eradicated all negative thought with her entrance into this year's Comic Convention. Wearing a very classy, low V-neck black dress and leaving her long, black tresses flowing for all to admire, she strolled into the press room full of smiles and confidence. Ms. Jolie was stunning in the way that she filled the slightly cozy area with her presence as she began to speak. Immediately she revealed a light-hearted nature when she perched upon her chair and chuckled, "Now what do I do?"

Tim: This was our first day at Comic-Con, the largest science fiction convention held in the United States. And to be frank it's a bit overwhelming at first. There are so many guest speakers, events, panels, and exhibitions that it's too much for one person alone to take in. Luckily, TNMC sent more than one reporter to the event to get all the scoops and interviews we could get our grubby little hands on.

The Weston Front

Welcome back to commentary from America’s heartland – far from the undue influence of the studio muckity-mucks. This is a much safer place to be right now with Oscar fever having struck on the coast and with reports coming in of rabid publicists roaming the streets of LA snapping at the ankles of all who cross their paths. It seems somehow appropriate with the various film types crusading for Oscar gold that we should venture back into time (okay, if this were Sherman and Peabody we’d climb into the Way Back Machine for this one but in this case we’ll have to settle for words). It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a good yarn about Medieval happenings and one immediately thinks back to Excalibur, Prince Valiant, The Long Ships, Ivanhoe, Robin and Marian, The Lion in Winter, and perhaps even Robin Hood and its latter day version in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves – some of these are treasures, some just guilty pleasures. The screenplay we’ll look at today falls into the treasure category.

Well, it’s all quiet on the Weston Front once again after rather an interesting time of late. Following all of the excitement at National Cowboy Hall of Fame it was good to get home, look in the mailbox and find a nice packet from an old friend with some very interesting contents -– film scripts. We’ll start today with the one which first attracted my attention but don’t go away as there’s more in the pipeline.
