Hollyfeld, here.

Well, it's that time of year again - one of my favorite times, in fact. The Oscars are officially upon us, and it's time for everyone to roll out their theories, their picks, and their "sure-things" about the ceremony. Who will win? Who will plummet to the infernal depths of their career afterwards? We find out this Sunday, but until then all us film geeks will have a lot of fun doling out our predictions. Here at TNMC, we have an Oscar Pool (thanks to my good pal Deadpool) where all us writers and our readers can compete against each other for fun and... well, fun, at any rate. If you'd like to join in, follow this link, http://moviegames.yahoo.com/oscars, register if you're not a member, and join a private group. The group ID: 3521. The group password: tnmc. Join up and good luck!

Hollyfeld, here, and here we are, again, back from the San Diego Comic Con, the largest convention of its kind in the world. I sadly did not partake in as fascinating a selection of activities this year as I did last, but fun was had, and I think I have a more or less complete collection now of the all-region DVDs from John Woo's pre-American glory days. So yay for me. Yay for you as well, since I picked up quite few interesting entertainment tidbits whilst I was there, and most of them bode quite well indeed for all of us.

TR: Welcome to Part 2 of Saturn Awards Coverage. This is the part where we actually got to be professional journalists and interview some of our favorite actors and directors in television and film. We did our best to dig out what scoops we could, without devolving into obsessive fanboys.

TR: So this past Sunday, 5.18.2003, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror films went ahead and hosted their 29th annual Saturn Awards. It's kind of like the Golden Globes for anything genre, since it honors work in both television and film. Rafael "Magnus" Pujals and I managed to snag some press passes for the event, so sit back and enjoy all the scoops, interviews, and pictures we were able to garner from this event.

After a long week at work, I finally managed to produce another column. This week we're wrapping up the summer releases for good. Today, we have Legally Blonde 2 and before the end of the week we'll have a script review of SWAT. Make sure to read Fred's column The Weston Front too. I can't believe X-Men 2 is only 5 days away. It seemed like a lifetime away not too long ago. It's going to be amazing!

My favorite month of the year is now underway. Believe me, nothing beats Montreal in May. The next 26 days usually mean great weather and huge and generally good movies. We're already under way with X2 this past weekend. That film has just raised the bar for every other sequel we'll see this summer. Even that big one in 10 days better be that darn GREAT and more. I also managed to catch Confidence. Great little heist flick. It's more of a rental but it's worth your time.

This morning's edition of 'Le Journal de Montreal' claims that Superman will now shoot here in Montreal. Apparently because of the scare of SARS, my city beat out Toronto. 'Le journal' even goes as far as saying that the film will begin production in June with a $265 Million American budget. They also report that Son of Mask and that an untitled Gene Hackman/Ronald Reagan presidential film have left Toronto for Montreal. Usually 'Le Journal' is extremely reliable but the article is filled with errors. Superman doesn't have a director and the $265m figure is way too high. My guess is that Superman will begin pre-production in June with a $265m CANADIAN dollars budget(it would equal $190m US). Gene Hackman isn't doing a movie about Ronald Reagan but is playing a retired President in Welcome to Mooseport. That production was supposed to shoot later this month in Ontario. So it could be very well possible that it was moved here. They also mentioned another production headed here, Secret Garden, written and directed by David Koepp and starring Johnny Depp. That project based on a Stephen King short-story will start lensing at the end of this month. I'll keep you posted on anymore development...

The countdown is on till Reloaded. I can't wait anymore. I managed to catch X2 another time this past weekend. The second viewing is solid. The only thing is the ending drags a little but all of that is easilly forgotten. Look out for another review on Friday...
